Dr. Padmanabhan is a Consultant and Associate Professor in the Divisions of Hematopathology, Transfusion Medicine and Experimental Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He received his medical degree from Thanjavur Medical College; MA and PhD from Brown University and underwent residency and fellowship training at Columbia University and the University of Pittsburgh, respectively. Dr. Padmanabhan directs an NIH-funded laboratory in the area of platelet immunology focused on understanding the pathophysiology of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT), and a novel thrombophilia he has described, monoclonal gammopathy of thrombotic/thrombocytopenic significance (MGTS). His research emphasizes translation of research findings to improve diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.
