Fahad Alkhalfan, MD, MMSCI is currently a vascular medicine fellow at Cleveland Clinic. After graduating from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland - Medical University of Bahrain, he pursued a Master of Medical Sciences in Clinical Investigation at Harvard Medical Center. While completing his Masters degree, he joined the PERFUSE team under the mentorship of Dr. C. Michael Gibson at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. During his time at PERFUSE, he successfully defended his Master's thesis titled "Novel use of biomarkers in predicting outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome". Additionally, he helped develop the International spontaneous coronary artery dissection registry (iSCAD Registry). He then joined the Boston Clinical Research Institute (BCRI) and is currently involved in managing the PERT Consortium Quality database. After starting residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus, he joined Dr. Charles Hong's lab and is currently involved in utilizing the UK Biobank to identify novel genetic variants in various atherosclerotic conditions including cerebrovascular disease, renal artery atherosclerosis and peripheral artery disease.
