Evan Garrad, MD is a PGY-1 medicine resident at the University of Illinois-Chicago. He graduated summa cum laude in 2017 from the University of Missouri-St. Louis after completing his BS in Biochemistry/Biotechnology. He then earned his MD from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2023. During medical school, Evan spent a year at the NIH as a Medical Research Scholars Program (MRSP) fellow. He worked under Dr. Yogendra Kanthi in the Laboratory of Vascular Thrombosis and Inflammation (LVTI). His project focused on a rare cohort of patients with monogenic deficiency of the enzyme CD73 and the effect of its absence on immunothrombosis. He has co-authored and presented several times since 2015, including most recently in 2023 as co-author on the review “NLRP3 inflammasome and interleukin-1 contributions to COVID-19-associated coagulopathy and immunothrombosis”.
