Naomi Hamburg, MD, MS is a cardiologist and vascular medicine specialist and the Joseph Vita Professor of Medicine , the Chief of the Section of Vascular Biology and Director of the Whitaker Cardiovascular Institute at BU School of Medicine. She leads a research program focused on the determinants of endothelial function in health and disease with a focus on understanding the mechanisms of cardiovascular risk attributable to diabetes mellitus and novel tobacco products. She has more than 150 publications in the medical literature and is currently directing an American Heart Association Center to provide research to end the youth vaping epidemic. She has been active in the vascular medicine community leading the fellowship program at Boston Medical Center, serving as Chair of the PVD Council of the American Heart Association and former Board of Trustees Member of the Society of Vascular Medicine. She is commited to reducing the burden of vascular diseases by advancing scientific discovery and training the next generations of vascular specialists.
